Enterprise-wide Expense Reduction

EMG® provides a proven expense-reduction process which consistently deliverers a minimum ten percent sustainable reduction in operating expense and equally high reductions in capital spending. EMG’s proprietary process, called "TASK," recently achieved a sustainable $289 million reduction in operating costs for a large Eastern utility. The project took only ten weeks to complete.

"TASK" provides three distinct benefits. First, the company identifies operating expense reductions of roughly ten percent during the eight to ten week period of the project. Second, the sponsoring executives learn a great deal about how well mid and top-level managers understand their own department’s impact on earnings. Third, "TASK" relies predominately on the client's employees to identify the savings. Because "TASK" is an employee-enabling process, it actually improves employee morale.

Problem Project Recovery

Over the last several years, EMG® assumed responsibility for nearly $500 million in failing Information Technology (I/T) projects. EMG® brought these late, off-track, and over-budget projects to successful completion. These projects were usually initiated by the client's staff and frequently involved large consulting companies that had been working for the client. In Problem Project Recovery, EMG® assumes full responsibility for managing the client's staff and any vendors.

EMG® does not respond to requests for project initiation. EMG® focuses on saving failing projects, and to date this has been a highly successful strategy.

Interim Chief Information Officer

Many EMG® clients initially tackle I/T department inefficiency and unresponsiveness with outsourcing solutions that result in far higher costs without producing the desired services and timely deliverables that their business needs. EMG® helps clients with problematic I/T organizations identify and analyze the underlying problems. Many CEOs are surprised that EMG® frequently finds responsibility for dysfunctional I/T departments shared equally between the I/T department and the entire business. This is not an altogether popular analysis, promoted by few consulting authorities today, but EMG® has consistently proven its accuracy to the benefit of the client.

In these situations, EMG® contracts to fix the problem over a six- to twelve-month period, ending the assignment with a completely functional I/T organization. EMG® takes legal responsibility for managing the client’s employees, representing I/T at the officer staff level and frequently at the board-of-directors level. In many cases, EMG® completes the project by recruiting for a permanent CIO and other necessary staff without relying on costly, unnecessary outsourcing fees. EMG® simply fixes both the I/T and business problems, and then hands the client back a fully functional, value-driven organization.
